We look damned in our mirrors with no way to kick these habits, so we’ll shoot the deputy and get some attention. Now that we’re on the same page, father I have a confession. I wake up every day and burn down the town. We’re all born with black in our eyes. Villains are snakes that never shed their skin and I got an addiction for taking my steps outside. Heard your girl has a date on the tracks with a train. To waste beauty is a shame, but she’s an ace up my sleeve, and the cracks in your walls were just enough to let in a gentleman such as me. There are no heroes if there’s no one to save. So let them all die today. I am the beast that robbed your good time. The evil wading at the bottom of her drink. My scissors are chewing at your trust, so fall in line with the victims. Halos blindfold us. There are no heroes if there’s no one to save. There are no heroes. These days we all are the same.

Drink bad blood and break your wrists. Tempted, we wished for tamed lions to give a kiss. We remember the teeth that bit so many men. Just don’t admit you are afraid. Honest guys with wandering eyes, waiting for pickpockets to take wallets home to their wives. Swallow the wedding ring grenade. Somewhere they watch the witches shake their hips. Is that glitter or black magic on your lips? I got a ball and chain branded with a pretty name, so leave a man with a better back to carry all your burdens. I tried dancing in your shoes just to move how you move. I stole the evil in your eyes just to see what I could see. The coroner is wearing an apron that reeks in so much suspicion. Looks like Daddy picked up a hobby that fulfills a great American lie. So desperately do I leave my mouth opened wide. I have such a bitter taste ever since I fell face first into this new life. I tried dancing in your shoes just to move how you move. I stole the evil in your eyes just to see what I could see. That evil isn’t me.

I feel the trigger on my feet. Finding perfect bones and teeth. Nail the quiet mouth shut, as we reach for the forbidden fruits on a dead tree. Such a slither could have convinced me. You’re setting such an example for the kids. Craters mar the reverence of a lab coat, kindled by aspirations to place a cast on mankind. We will cure the beat in our chests, cause I know it’s for the best. The world will stop dead in its tracks. This is no skin off of my back. When did we place trust in our own hands? I’m just cashing the checks. This concrete jungle takes its last breath. Tying nooses strung into facts. When did we place trust in our own hands? We’ve sentenced ourselves to death. I play with fire and wear it on my sleeve. If I had those curious cat eyes this would be my perfect cup of tea. Set your alarms for six AM, tomorrow we will wake up dead in a claustrophobic bed screaming help for centuries.

Girl it’s been a long time coming, I know you’ll be wanting more. She’s never seen a face without flare, I’ve got the eyes she’s looking for. It’s a cry for help ignored by authorities, and it woke a bear, a godless killing machine. This is where we rip out the fake in her hair. We push the wife of the devil down the stairs. This blood came from somewhere up stream, where critics are pouring concrete apathy. Keep it down. Dim the lights. There was a homicide at the opera tonight. Open up. Let me out. We will move to this music six feet underground, where even the dead know how to get down. Just had to tie your tongue to your shoes, like you had something to lose when inhaling the scene. God forbid you had a soul. God forbid this was a moving picture show. God forbid this outrage on my television screen. I know that you’ll be wanting so much more.

With asphalt in my lungs, I sit atop my throne with the semi-sadness diesel gypsy's lament I’ve always known. I've got an exit wound where my heart used to be, and baby I ain’t had a soul since you moved on without me. I’ve seen the sun rise just about a thousand times. I’ve suffered catastrophe. Alas the snake highway began to poison me. Solitude is a mirage that takes its victims slowly. So, I’m hangin more then my hat and throwin it into reverse. Girl I’d hold you again but death got a hold of you first. Well, god damn, I ain’t a man unless I got a home, I’m just another lover who left their ring at the side of the road. This empty passenger seat, a reminder that I can’t stand. You’ve placed permanence on me that says I got a ghost on my hands. Death can’t do us part, so in the meantime just whisper to the worms, "soon we won’t be alone," and even though I can’t feel your lips I’m still in love with your bones. So I’m headed for that shallow south to carve my name on her stone. Eighteen reasons at the bottom of this bottle. Eighteen reasons to kiss the barrel. Eighteen reasons to be with you. Eighteen reasons to see you soon.

about

Kodiak Manassas, Virginia

Kodiak has recently picked up the gloves again to take another swing at jammin with the masses. Originally born in 2008, the boys played shows throughout the central East coast, primarily Maryland and Virginia. Kodiak decided to hang up the guns in mid-2010 with a lot left unaccomplished. Now, nearly two years later, the boys have plotted a comeback with even greater things in store. ... more
